All organizations have Grey Areas but what are they?

As most organization have implement some form of ERP/Finance systems including system like SAP, Syspro and Sage Pastel. These systems make a series of assumptions of how an organization worked in terms of its finances and ERP functions. With finance the standard functionally is generic enough to cover an organizations needs but with the diversity of ERP requirement across not only industries but within an industry they systems leaves holes in what the organization manages to implement. These “holes” or what we call Grey Areas are filled in with Excel, Paper-based systems, people-oriented approaches and custom software and add-ons to the software system. These Grey Areas includes Customer/ Supplier specific and Production/Logistics functionality, EDS mechanisms, Integration with SKADA/Weight Bridges/Portals/SMS/Emails/etc. Sometimes its things like Lab management, Performance Management Auditing, Non-Conformance Management and Document Management.
